She is a Bermudan cutter. This balanced rig allows for many sail configurations giving the ability to reduce sail area quickly if wind conditions demand.
The rig is unusually well supported by stainless standing rigging, completely re-rigged in 2024, including outer and inner forestay, double backstays, 10 mm upper, and 8 mm fore and aft lower shrouds. The aluminium spars are original by Kemp (Selden), including mast, boom, rod kicker and telescopic spinnaker pole on an adjustable mast track. The deck-stepped mast is fitted with double spreaders and access steps to the top.
Running rigging is set up for short-handed sailing with all control lines led back within easy reach of the helming position through Lewmar clutches to a Lewmar halyard 16ST winch on the coachroof bulkhead. The mainsail area is 20.5 sqm, with three single-line slab reefs. The foresails comprise a high-clew Yankee, sail area 29.3 sqm on a Furlex roller forestay led back through side-deck tracks to two Lewmar 44ST sheet winches, and an inner staysail, sail area 12.9 sqm on a Furlex roller stay controlled by a single-line sheet/outhaul on a self tacking track. There is an additional Lewmar 16ST winch to port to ease the furling of the staysail in heavy weather.
In addition to the standing sails, the sail wardrobe includes a colourful cruising ‘chute with snuffer, a storm trysail (to fit a dedicated trysail mast track) and a day-glow-orange storm staysail. Luckily I have never felt the need to use the storm sails, but have used the cruising ‘chute on several occasions. Spinnaker sheets, pole downhauls, preventer lines and blocks etc are included in the sale.

The key feature of Vancouver 34 Pilot sailing yacht is the raised ‘Pilothouse’ saloon directly accessed from the companionway. Universal positive comments are “ it’s so light in here” and “ you can enjoy the scenery from the saloon” through the large laminated glass windows. Crews love it!
To port, by the companionway is the wet hanging locker, within which the second manual bilge pump is mounted. Forward of that is the large fridge/freezer compartment and storage cabinet, which doubles as seating bench.
Ahead to port, the forward looking navigation station/steering position allows the skipper, when on passage, to ‘sail from indoors’, looking through the windscreen, steering by means of the autohelm instrumentation. To starboard of the navigation position is the forward facing chart table and chart locker beneath.
To starboard is the u-shaped saloon settee, with central saloon table pivoting on a chromed pole, which lowers to convert the saloon seating into a double berth, and can be extended to double the table area. Beneath and behind the saloon settee are cavernous storage lockers, as there are also lockers conveniently below the saloon floor where I keep tool boxes. The flexible 270 litre fresh water tank, is below the saloon floor. The battery enclosures are beneath the saloon settee.
Ventilation to the raised saloon is provided by four Lewmar Ocean hatches. All hatches were reglazed in 2023 with clear acrylic.
Stepping forward and two steps down is the well-equipped linear galley to port and a double midships cabin to starboard.
The galley is equipped with ample storage, a Force 10 gas cooker with two burners, oven and grill, and a double sink. Pressurised hot and cold fresh water are pumped to a mixer tap, plus a freshwater manual pump serves the sink. The sink drains to a grey water tank below the cabin floor prior to being automatically pumped overboard. Ventilation and light are provided by one Lewmar Ocean hatch and two Lewmar opening port lights.
The midships cabin has a full-length double berth, a hanging locker, drawers, shelves and a huge storage area beneath the mattresses where I keep the E-propulsion outboard battery and charger, and Meaco de-humidifier. It also has a fold-down writing desk! This is an excellent berth on-passage as the head end is so close to the centre of rotation of the boat. Ventilation and light are provided by one Lewmar hatch and one Lewmar opening port light.
Forward of the midships cabin to starboard is the heads compartment with Jabsco sea toilet, fold down seat, wash basin, shower tap and shower tray, and storage. The sink and shower tray drain to the grey water tank for pumping out. The holding tank manual pump out to sea is fitted to the basin bulkhead, with the necessary diverter valves. Beneath the washbasin are the Blakes 1.5” seacocks for toilet and holding tank outlets to sea. Ventilation and light are provided by one Lewmar ocean hatch and one Lewmar opening port light and a dorado vent.
Forward is the forecabin, comprising double V-berth in several removable cushions, with hanging locker, shelves, hanging locker, under berth cupboards. Right forward is a removable panel to access the chain locker beyond. Beneath the v-berth are the holding tank, and sail lockers for storm sails and sail bags. Beneath the cabin floor is access to the Blakes ¾”seawater toilet inlet seacock and log transducer. The large Lewmar deck hatch above is fitted with a Lewmar sliding black-out blind and insect mesh. Further ventilation and light are provided by two Lewmar opening port lights, and a dorado vent.
Finishes
The upholstery throughout has been re-upholstered in a steel grey colour, vinyl in the raised saloon and midships cabin, velour in the forecabin. Full length cockpit cushions are in light blue canvas. All berths are fitted with lee cloths.
All internal joinery is in solid cherry and light maple veneer. Cockpit is decked in teak.

Comentario del broker

What a pretty coloured Vancouver 34 Pilot. She appears to be in good condition having been lovingly maintained and cared for by her current owner and I have been provided with so much info from the owner its great, read on below...

Owner comments;
Built in 1995 by Northshore Yachts, she like all Vancouver Yachts, is a good passage making yacht for a short handed crew to sail in comfort and in safety. The Vancouver Pilot is an easy-to-manage cruiser with the advantage of a sunny saloon giving clear views of scenery and the ability to ‘sail from indoors’ in inclement weather.
In the ten years of our ownership we have sailed many miles in Angel, circumnavigating Britain and Ireland, including several summers cruising the Scottish Hebrides and Northern Isles. The previous owner sailed her to the Baltic and Norway. We have regularly maintained and constantly updated her, including new engine, electronics, plumbing, canvas covers, upholstery and, only last winter, new standing rigging and weather deck.
It is with heavy heart that with our advancing age and ailments we have decided that our pretty yacht must now go to another caring owner.
As with all Vancouver yachts, she is a tough, long distance cruising yacht. Her pale blue GRP hull, Hull No. 85, has an encapsulated ballast long keel which is cut back at the forefoot but is swept aft to support the rudder and protect the propeller opening. She is 10.5m overall and beam is 3.2m. Her draught is a mere 1.5m The bow has a nice entry, the sheer is pronounced and the counter stern is slim. With these lines, underwater configuration and approximately 8 tonnes cruising displacement she holds her course comfortably through a choppy sea.
The hull penetrations below the waterline are the ¾” toilet seawater inlet, and two 1.5” toilet and holding tank outlets; the depth/temperature, speed log instruments, the bow thruster tunnel, the anodes and the fridge heat exchanger. Anodes were replaced in 2024. Antifouling has been applied annually.
