Comentario del broker
This Itchen Ferry based Tamarisk 24 is constructed using a GRP hull with Timber construction decks & cockpit, all either GRP or epoxy sheathed.
The vessel was totally stripped out back to a bare hull, ground out and all concrete and rusty cast iron ballast removed. A new keel has been constructed with encapsulated lead ballast, which is bonded and bolted to the GRP keel hull and faired in to increase the draft of the vessel to 4’ 0” aft as per the original Itchen Ferry Design. This modified keel increased the depth of the forefoot to much improve the windward performance.
The hull has been reinforced and relaminated internally, together with new bulkheads, new beam shelves and laminated deck beams, new engine beds, rebuilt Yanmar 2QM15hp, new S/S shaft and greaser, new Vetus fuel tank and flexible fuel pipes etc. Total cockpit rebuild, new engine box with teak deck lid and cockpit step lockers. Total new decks, all epoxy sheathed and painted. New forecastle with 2 full length berths, with bucket & chuck it loo & new berth cushions and new forehatch.
As this vessel was rebuilt to race as well as cruise it’s fitted with 2 manual and 1 electric bilge pumps to allow for bad weather sailing.
The rig was redesigned by Martin’s Rigging and a new wooden pole mast built, together with a 17’ boom, all new standing rigging, fitted with new S/S chain plates. The vessel has a comprehensive sail wardrobe with numerous tan sails and a new suit of Jeckells Sails to suit the new rig, all unused. A new cockpit cover has been fitted.
The vessel is provided with all the usual gear for cruising/racing a Gaff Cutter of the traditional type.
Some setting up of the gaff rig will be required, I.e. mainsail reefing etc.
The vessel has been rebuilt/refitted by two professional boat builders and is now in virtually ‘as new’ condition.
These boat details are subject to contract.
