John Deere Series 4, 7.6 liter six-cylinder turbocharged diesel, model 6076AFM30;
The engine is a repower, installed new 2003
Twin-Disc model MG-509 hydraulic reverse and reduction gear;
2-3/4" iron tailshaft through a conventional compression type packing gland at the sterntube;
Shaft and chain linkage to a gearbox in the lazarette drives a pinion gear to a toothed quadrant at the rudderstock.
AUXILIARY GENERATOR: One Northern Lights/Lugger three-cylinder heat
exchanger cooled, electric start, raw water cooled exhaust diesel drives a 6kW single phase AC armature, serving the AC panel.
ALARM SYSTEMS: Audible and visible alarms for propulsion engine low oil pressure, high cooling water temperature; also automatic shut-down for auxiliary high temperature or low oil pressure.
ELECTRICAL: (2) Group 27 12-volt wet batteries in a 24-volt bank, and (3) Group 27 12-volt wet-cell batteries in 12-volt banks supply house and inverter current. All are maintained by engine driven alternator, a Sentry 12-volt AC charger, a Newmar 24-volt AC charger, or at shore by the charging function of the Heart-Interface 2000-watt inverter. The batteries are through isolation switches, and are properly mounted and secured. A 30-amp 120-volt shore connection also supplies AC current to the breaker and outlets.

A solid wood mast is stepped through the foredeck to a reinforcement atop the keel, stayed by 7/16" 6x19 stainless cable fore and aft lower shrouds and aft-tending upper shrouds countering the 3/8" 1x19 stainless cable forestay. The standing rig is new. There is no running rigging at this point; that to be fitted as part of the gaff rig modification currently in progress. All in good order as visible.
A partial battened Dacron mainsail and piston hanked Dacron headsail were examined from storage bags belowdeck and found in used but serviceable condition. Both, along with the mast, are being set up as a gaff rig. This is a work in progress, currently incomplete. Requisite sheet and halyard winches are in place or are being fitted.

This motorsailer is built with a single flush deck forward and aft and with well decks in the waist, round-bottom hull single screw vessel with mild sheer, flare, and deck camber, raked stem and canoe stem. The cabin is located on center, with open aft deck, small side decks outboard of the cabin, then an open foredeck.
Bulwarks and two courses of pipe rails to 29" height enclose the fore and aft decks, with bulwarks along the side decks, each with boarding gates. The aft deck has a coaming hatch to the lazarette, and a door from aft into the pilothouse. Steps down each side lead along the cabin, with entry doors, then to steps up to the foredeck, with raised hatch entry to the forecabin, anchor windlass, dinghy, and storage. The mast is stepped through the foredeck and has shroud chainplates outboard at the hull sides, a single forestay to the stemhead fitting, and aft tending upper shrouds as backstays.
Five transverse bulkheads subdivide the vessel into six belowdeck compartments. From forward: forepeak/chain locker, port and starboard quarters with water closets, companionway space, machinery space, aft quarters and water closet, and lazarette.
CONSTRUCTION: Lapped, sealed and riveted 1/4" iron hull, transverse framed, with deck and side frames of 2-1/2"x1/4" flat bar at 16" spacing and with 2-1/2"x2"x1/4" tees at riveted seams. Superstructure is welded aluminum, with the deck as an isolation joint at hull/deckhouse intersections. The deck is of covered teak planks.
(2) Capac impressed current cathodic protection systems for corrosion control.
TANKAGE:
Fuel tanks: steel;
Water tanks: steel;
Holding tank: polyethylene (Lectrasan waste treatment system)
UNDERWATER INSPECTION FROM SURVEY:
PROPELLERS: (1) right hand three-blade bronze, 34"x22", freshly reconditioned. SHAFTS; (1) 2-3/4" iron, through deadwood exit water cooled cutless bearing, all in good condition.
RUDDERS: Flanged non-balanced design on 1/1/2" iron stock, with lower stock in skeg mounted cup bearing, good condition.
HULL FITTINGS: Bronze, fitted with marine seacocks, in good condition.
KEEL COOLERS: None
ZINC ANODES: New
HULL: The underwater sections of the hull appear free of excessive pitting or corrosion, heavy upsets, indents or evidence of hard grounding, or previous major repair. The antifouling paint is new. The last haul out was in 2022 for painting and maintenance.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Though built in 1938 FJORDING has been upgraded with modern systems. She was originally built for the Swedish Coast Guard as a rescue vessel, and reportedly was designed to handle 360-degree rolls. The very capable current owner of 27 years is only the third owner and has been diligent in keeping this boat in top condition. With the three private sleeping cabins, each with their own head, large main saloon, athwart-ships galley, and separate pilot house this vessel is setup for a variety uses. Long distance travel, charter boat, live aboard: all of these are well-suited. The hull is lapped and riveted black iron and the house is insulated aluminum. Metal construction of this traditional type has proven to be robust in usage and very long lived. Many vessels built in this manner and in this time period continue to work the sea today. All of the outside surfaces have been recently painted as well as some of the interior. FJORDING has a full stand up engine room, ideal for maintenance and safe for voyaging. It should also be noted that the current owner of 27 years has had a long successful career as a professional engineer in electronics, mechanical, aircraft restoration, and aircraft and marine design.
