Construction:
4” by 1-1 1⁄4” Mahogany Planking, Carvel Construction / Transom quilted.
1 1/2” x 4 1⁄2” yakal framing – 3⁄4 Lengths on 13–13 1⁄2 Centers, Original Sistered & Bolted.
Decking 3⁄4” x 1 3⁄4 Teak Planking over plywood 2” x 3” on 13 1⁄2” Centers.
As noted by the surveyor: "The vessel hull appears to be in good structural condition, with less than expected wear and tear expected. At that time the surveyor noted that this boat is in Above Average Condition. During the 2018 Lift Out at Jensen Motorboat Company. Four fasteners were drawn from typical areas and all were found to be in serviceable condition." Currently it is in need of exterior refinishing.
This is the only Alaskan 55 that was factory built with a full enclosure for the aft cockpit area. The space features opening glass windows for ventilation and provides a true expansion of the available interior living space.
The water tanks are of aluminum.
Length overall for moorage purposes is 60 feet.
Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Comentario del broker
When classic wooden Grand Banks Alaskan yachts come on the market today they reflect the incredible longevity of this line of vessels. They were designed for truly long range cruising and built of the best hardwoods that were available more than half a century ago. Although they were production boats built for general sale, the craftsmanship and quality materials sing out when you step onboard and echo further when you examine their construction in detail. Through these characteristics the Grand Banks Alaskan model has stood the test of time. Our Alaskan 55 is the largest of the classic line, and the most recent surveyor remarked "for her age and service, this vessel is in very fine condition and have benefitted from the investment and improvements of the seller."
The layout makes for an ideal liveaboard yacht which provides for a fine separation of interior spaces with excellent visibility throughout the salon and pilothouse. Covered walkways provide for dry access to the outside. And, our boat is the only one to have a full solid enclosure for the aft deck area factory installed when built. The space provides for an expansive living area to augment the rest of the gracious interior space. For cold weather expeditions (or winters in the Pacific Northwest) a massive 80,000 BTU Webasto diesel hydronic heating system provides for stem-to-stern warmth - and will even preheat the engines for smooth starts. The boat has been rewired and re-plumbed with new marine sanitation systems. Robust electrical systems include a Northern Lights 8 KW generator, an Outback 2800 Watt Inverter-Charger system with a Heart Link 2000 monitor interface, new battery banks, and powerful 100 to 150 watt alternators on the engines for underway charging.
With over 1,800 gallons of fuel and 1,000 gallons of water below decks this boat is a self-sufficient long distance passage-maker as well. The naturally-aspirated Caterpillar 3160 engines were refit in 2009 by rebuilding or replacing peripheral elements of the powerplant including the raw water pump system, custom-built heat exchangers, exhaust system, engine mounts, fuel injection pump, and other parts. Dual Racor fuel filters on a switching manifold are installed and there is a fuel polishing and transfer system aboard for enhanced reliability. New spare propellors, anchors, and many other essential parts are included.
In the pilothouse, a current Nobeltec TIMEZERO TZ Navigator software suite is aboard with charts for local, Canadian, and Alaskan waters. This is a true pilothouse with no flybridge aloft. Additional controls for the engine are installed on the aft deck for docking. Radar, AIS, and backup GPS and other systems are also aboard.
The boat is in covered moorage in a prime freshwater location in Seattle which is approved for liveaboard use and can be transferred to the next owner - a truly outstanding and rare opportunity.
These boat details are subject to contract.
