The community certificate/ESTRIN of the barge is valid until 04/2029. ANTIFOULING DONE IN AUGUST 2024
The last hull maintenance took place in 08/2024, with the application of two layers of SOB brand vinyl tar.
In 2018, we are told that the bottom plates were replaced, and the sides were doubled up to 1.20 meters in height (above the waterline) with 6 mm thick steel plates. The side wear steel bars were also replaced at this time.
For insulation, 14 cm thick polyurethane foam boards were installed on the ceiling, and 11 cm thick polyurethane foam boards on the sides. I felt a significant temperature difference compared to the outside during my visit. Come and make your own opinion!
The red fuel oil tank has a total capacity of 3000 liters (2 x 1500 liters) for hot water and heating.
There are two water tanks, sandblasted and painted with food-grade epoxy, with a total capacity of 5000 liters.
The barge is equipped with a 200-liter Notifor black water treatment station, installed in 2000, and a 200-liter grease trap for kitchen wastewater.
Our owner bought the barge in 1998 from a boatman. At that time, he had the barge shortened to 28.80 meters. He then completely transformed the boat into a home by himself. A colossal task that, I must admit, impressed me. The entire forward part of the boat is the result of our owner’s work.

A large gangplank first leads us to the boat's spacious deck. Equipped with 220V outlets, it is perfect for enjoying the sun and dining outdoors with as many guests as you like.
You enter the boat via a starboard staircase and a side door or through the wheelhouse. In the wheelhouse, the headroom is 1.89 m. The wheelhouse is entirely removable, achieving an air draft of 2.98 m. There is a beautiful 360° view, whether the wheelhouse is assembled or not, well-designed for navigation.
Here, a staircase leads to the aft cabin of the boatman, which remains original, with a headroom of 1.91 m. To starboard and port, there are two beds measuring 200 x 120 cm, numerous storage spaces, and a small desk area. This cabin is ideal for giving your guests a taste of the typical atmosphere of historical Freycinet barges.
Returning through the wheelhouse towards the bow, on the port side, a staircase leads to the boat's kitchen. Here, the headroom is 2.27 m. It is equipped with 4 gas burners, a 220V refrigerator, sinks, an extractor hood, and three spaces for installing a washing machine, dishwasher, or dryer. In this kitchen, there is a table where five people can dine and plenty of storage space.
To starboard, in the same room, there is a first shower with a semi-macerating toilet, with a headroom of 2.20 m. The boat is equipped with a Notifor black water treatment station (new in 2000) of about 200 liters, as well as a 200-liter grease trap. A pressure booster maintains water pressure and avoids triggering the water pump every time water is used. Note that the boat is equipped with a pump that draws water from the canal, supplies the boat's toilets, and also allows for deck washing, which is practical for saving water.
Continuing towards the bow, immediately to starboard, there is the second entrance to the boat connected to the immense living area of this barge. Here, ceiling heights are impressive, reaching 2.85 m at the highest and 2.05 m at the lowest. It is difficult to convey the sense of space that emanates from this room through photos. I felt like I was in a loft bathed in light thanks to its six portholes and deck hatches. Each of these portholes opens and can be covered by clever covers made by our owner, practical for maintaining privacy on the shore and having an unobstructed view on the canal side.
This room, the cabins, and the kitchen are equipped with glazed deck hatches that act as light wells. They are topped with removable covers (new in 2014), keeping the interior of the boat cool in summer. These deck hatches can be opened, allowing for effective ventilation of the boat along with the portholes, keeping it cool.
Hot water and heating are provided by an OERTHLY boiler that supplies the boat's eight radiators and the 160-liter hot water tank.
Towards the bow, a corridor leads to a second sani macerator toilet to starboard with a headroom of 2.07 m.
Continuing forward, to starboard and port, there are two large cabins equipped with 200 x 140 cm beds with a headroom of 2.12 m.
Finally, stepping back a few steps via the corridor, we find a large bathroom equipped with a bathtub, with a headroom of 2.09 m.

Comentario del broker
Boatshed Midi Canals is pleased to present this 28.80-meter-long liveaboard Freycinet barge for sale.
Only the second owner since its construction, our current owner purchased this barge from a boatman in 1998 and has completely transformed it into this comfortable liveaboard barge. Just looking at my photos and videos, you can see the tremendous amount of work that has been done on this barge.
I was impressed by the nice solid feel of this barge. In 2018, the bottom was replaced with inserts, and the sides were doubled up to 1.20 meters in height (above the waterline) with 6 mm steel plates. Additionally, the community certificate of the boat is valid until 04/2029.
Our owners have made it their main residence for over 15 years.
I was impressed by the headroom, making it an ideal living space for tall people.
The living space is remarkable, featuring a large terrace, equipped with 220V outlets, three cabins, a spacious saloon, a fully equipped kitchen, and well-thought-out amenities. I felt like I was visiting a real floating home with all the modern comforts on board.
