This vessel also has a clear-view windshield wiper usually found on commercial fishing vessels or commercial freighters.
The round device acts something like a windscreen wiper on an automobile. Instead of using rubber wipers, it uses centrifugal force to remove water droplets.
The center part is the motor. The round transparent 18" diameter disc is attached to the shaft of the center motor and spins when the motor turns. The spinning action removes the water from the disc and so navigators are able to get a clear view of the outside by looking through the spinning disc. Of course the edges of the spinning disc are constructed in such a way that water will not be able to enter the bridge.
The particles of salt in the air from the waves when solidified will easily scratch the window if a rubber wiper is installed. The spinning disc hardly needs any maintenance at all.
Comentario del broker
There are over 200 of these unique Bruce Roberts-designed Pacific Coast Fisheries (PCF) 40 Sailing Trawlers built and in service world-wide.
It has a large fuel and water capacity plus space for a deep freezer. As a full displacement motor sailer vessel of steel construction it is also an economical passage maker and is quite capable of crossing oceans safely and surely. The hull was ultrasound inspected in 2009 with good results and the teak hull-to-deck joint was plug sampled with absolutely no moisture present.
This yacht is very comfortable and extremely well maintained -- it even smells good. Non-smokers and fastidious care, even in the engine room, shows pride of ownership.
